Bradham scores twice,
Asbridge rushes for 94
HICKMAN, Ky. -- Crittenden County coasted to an easy 30-6 win Friday at Fulton County, improving to 2-0 on the season.
The Rockets scored its first touchdown on a halfback pass from Zack Beverly to Cody Hunt, setting the stage for four more rushing TDs before game's end. Fulton County avoided the shutout with a late score against the Rocket reserve defense.
Senior fullback Jared Asbridge rushed for 94 yards on 12 carries, but played only a little more than a quarter. A minor neck injury took him out the game before halftime, but not before he scored a touchdown and led the team's ground attack. Crittenden outrushed Fulton 254-122.
Senior halfback Ryan Bradham scored touchdown runs of eight and 29 yards and Tommy Harris tacked on a six-yard scoring carry. Crittenden notched all of its points in the second and third quarters. Running back Demetric Moss did not play because of a deep leg bruise sustained in the season-opening win at Caldwell. That opened the door for Harris to get some extra snaps at halfback and Beverly even lined up there once to throw the team's first scoring strike.
When Asbridge was sidelined, Crittenden dug deeper into its running back corps, which was a big question mark coming into the season. Several young players stepped up and turned in solid performances, including freshmen Justin Lee and Blake Gardner.
The Rocket defense smothered Fulton County from the outset. The Pilots managed just one first down in each half against Crittenden's starting defense.
Sean Thompson threw for 43 yards on 4-of-9 accuracy. The Rocket QB's ball placement improved greatly from the first game when his timing off was off just a tad with Crittenden receivers. Thompson also rushed for 33 yards.
