Rockets pummel Calloway
Berry throws for 200 yards, 3 touchdowns
Marion, Ky. (Sept. 17, 2004) - Crittenden County continued its
offensive onslaught at Class 3A Calloway County, blitzing the
Lakers for seven touchdowns and nearly 400 yards in total offense.
It marks the second straight week that the Rockets have scored 49 points, however, this time they won after the disappointing three-point loss to Union County seven days earlier.
Crittenden dominated the game from the outset and led 28-7 at the break.
Other than special teams breakdowns, the Rockets were virtually flawless. Calloway managed two touchdowns, each one courtesy of a fumbled punt by the Rockets. The Lakers also got a safety when a punt snap went over the head of punter Justin McFarland and he recovered it only to be tackled in the end zone.
Austin Berry threw for 200 yards on 11-for-13 accuracy. Three of those completions went for touchdowns.
The Rocket defense also got in on the scoring as defensive back Shawnte Moss picked off a Calloway pass and returned it 77 yards for a touchdown in the second half. The Rocket secondary picked off three Calloway passes on the night. Brad Hart and Cody Robinson also had interceptions for Crittenden.
Shawn Farmer set the stage when he blocked a punt after Calloway's opening drive stalled on three plays. The Rockets scored a few plays later and went on to hit paydirt on each of its four first-half possessions.
